Privacy Policy
Effective: November 5, 2026
WeighMemo (体重速记, "the app") is developed and operated by an independent developer ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and the choices and rights you have.
1. How you can use the app
- Without an account: everything you log stays on your device. We don't collect any personal information and nothing is sent to a server.
- Cloud sync with Sign in with Apple (optional): sync lets you use the app on several devices and restore your log on a new phone. The app chooses the server from your App Store region when you sign in, and keeps using that server afterwards. Sections 2–5 apply when you use cloud sync.
2. Information we collect
If you sign in and use cloud sync, we process:
- Apple user identifier: the unique, app-specific identifier Apple provides, used to recognize your account. We never receive your Apple ID password.
- Nickname: the name Apple shares at first sign-in (you can choose not to share it) or a nickname you set in the app.
- Health data: the weight entries you enter (value, date and time, note), your height, goal weight and any start weight you set by hand. This is sensitive personal data. It is used only to show you your log, trends and BMI.
- Server logs: IP addresses and request times, kept briefly to protect the service from abuse and overwritten automatically.
We do not collect your phone number, email, contacts, location, photos or any other data on your device.
2a. Apple Health (optional)
You can turn on syncing with the iPhone Health app in Me → Goal & Height → Sync with Apple Health. Unless you do, the app doesn't read or write any Health data. When it's on:
- Reading: the app reads only body weight and height from Health, to import weights from smart scales and other apps, to fill in your height if you haven't entered it, and to restore your log on a new iPhone.
- Writing: the app writes only the weights you log in WeighMemo, and keeps them updated when you edit or delete an entry.
- Data read from Health is stored on your device just like entries you type in. It's sent to a server only if you have also signed in and use cloud sync (sections 2 and 4), together with your other entries.
- Data from Health is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, never sold or shared with third parties, and never stored in iCloud.
- You can turn syncing off in the app at any time, or revoke access in the Health app: tap your profile picture → Apps → WeighMemo. Weights already written to Health are managed by the Health app, where you can delete them.
3. How we use it and legal basis
We use this information only to provide logging, sync and statistics. We don't use it for advertising, profiling or marketing, and we don't sell, rent, or share it with third parties.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland: we process your account data to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract), and your health data on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give by entering it and turning on sync. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
4. Where data is stored and for how long
- A mainland China App Store account is stored on Tencent Cloud in mainland China, and is not transferred outside mainland China.
- An account from any other App Store region is stored on Vultr in Newark, New Jersey, United States, and is not transferred to mainland China. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, this is a transfer to the United States, which we make on the basis of the explicit consent described in section 3.
- The two account systems are separate. A login on one server cannot see data stored on the other.
- All traffic between the app and the server is encrypted with HTTPS.
- We keep your data until you delete your account. Deleting your account removes your data from the server immediately; server backups are kept for up to 30 days in case of hardware failure and are then destroyed automatically.
5. Your rights
- Access and correction: view, edit or delete any entry, and change your nickname, height, start weight and goal weight in the app at any time.
- Portability: export all your entries from Me → Goal & Height → Export CSV.
- Erasure: delete your account from Me → Goal & Height → Delete Account. All your data on the server is deleted and the app's Sign in with Apple authorization is revoked.
- Stop using Sign in with Apple: on iPhone, go to Settings → Apple Account → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple. The app signs you out when you do this.
- Other requests: you can also email us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or to object to processing. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents: we don't sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
6. Third-party services
- Sign in with Apple: provided by Apple to verify your identity, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Tencent Cloud: hosts the server for mainland China App Store accounts and stores that data on our behalf only.
- Vultr: hosts the server for all other App Store accounts and stores that data on our behalf only.
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
7. Permissions
- Notifications: requested only when you turn on the daily reminder. Reminders are scheduled on your device and don't go through our server.
- Health: requested only when you turn on Sync with Apple Health. See section 2a.
- Face ID / Touch ID: used only if you turn on Face ID Lock. iOS performs the check and tells the app only whether it succeeded; the app never receives or stores your face or fingerprint data.
Sharing a card and exporting CSV use the system share sheet. Neither needs photo or file access.
Widgets: Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show your latest weight. The data passes only between the app and its widget on your device, and widgets stop showing your weight when Face ID Lock is on. Shortcuts and Siri: when you log a weight with Siri or the Shortcuts app, Apple processes your voice (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy) and the app receives only the recognized number.
8. Children
The app is intended for adults. If you are under 16 (or the age of digital consent where you live), please use it only with a parent's or guardian's permission. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll let you know in the app or prominently on this page.
10. Contact
For questions or requests about this policy or your data, email monkeykingdebug@gmail.com. We reply within 15 business days.
